Today’s Rasmussen Polls

August 31, 2009

According to Rasmussen today, first number ‘for’, second ‘against':

  • 46-53 : Obama’s approval rating, a new low.
  • 27-69 : Congress knows what it’s doing on the economy.
  • 25-54 : congressmen understand legislation before voting
  • 22-47 : congressmen have a good understanding of the health care bill.
  • 57-25 : would like to replace the entire Congress.
  • 43-38 : would vote for a Republican for Congress over the Democrat.
  • 43-53 : support the overall Democrat health care plan.
  • 23-43 : strongly support Democrat health care plan, vs strongly oppose.
  • 65-26 : believe CIA waterboarding of terrorists elicited valuable intelligence.

The news gets even better for America. Besides Teddy “Chappaquiddick” Kennedy taking his final dive off the bridge, I mean. Obama comes back from his taxpayer-paid vacation at posh, exclusive Martha’s Vineyard, and Congress reconvenes after the August recess.

Palin Power Continues

August 31, 2009

I bet Sarah can see the lefty heads explode from her front porch. From Politico:

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin this week will begin accepting and rejecting the more than 1,070 invitations she has received for paid speeches and political appearances since she resigned from office, aides said.Twenty speakers’ bureaus made offers to represent her. She has signed with Washington Speakers Bureau, which represents everyone from George and Laura Bush to Bob Woodward and Katie Couric to Alan Greenspan, Colin Powell and Rudy Giuliani.

More than 950 requests for speeches have poured in for Palin, and over 120 candidates for office have asked her to appear, including folks running for Senate, House and state Legislature, aides said.

Make the money, you deserve it. Spread the truth. Because that is what you do. Then, you decide …

New Homes Sales Up, But What Does That Really mean ?

August 31, 2009

Before we talk numbers we need a reference, something sadly lacking from the State Run Media these days. So lets look at new homes sales figures for July 2007 — about 850,000 units annualized, were sold. 2007, you recall was before the major home sales downturn peak slaes were probably in late 2005, early 2006.  So what does “new home sales up” mean now? Compared to foreclosures, people losing their homes, foreclosures are about three times as great. With a large portion of those foreclosure strategic, the homeowner is upside down in the loan, prices are dropping greatly. Many of the homes being foreclosed, it stands to reason, are newer homes that were sold at a premium before the market home market crashed.

Overall it’s propaganda, means almost nothing as the following chart will show:

Foreclosures-vs-NewHomeSales__cschart082709New home sales are ticking up slightly again, bringing some much-needed relief to the beleagured homebuilders. But watch out. Mark Hanson produced this chart, showing foreclosure starts against new home sales. As you can see, the new foreclosure starts jumped even more in july than new home sales, meaning trouble down the road for homebuilders — especially once that $8,000 first-time homebuilder tax credit runs out.

Chart from ClusterStock:

Summing up, we have seen new home sales drop by half over the past two years. While foreclosures went sky high, up by 93% over July 2006.

Foreclosure Filings Up 93 Percent From July 2006

RealityTrack, the leading online marketplace for foreclosure properties, today released its July 2007 U.S. Foreclosure Market Report, which shows a total of 179,599 foreclosure filings — default notices, auction sale notices and bank repossessions — were reported during the month, up 9 percent from the previous month and up 93 percent from July 2006. The report also shows a national foreclosure rate of one foreclosure filing for every 693 households for the month.

Meanwhile, prices for new and existing homes probably fell everywhere.

A Chip For Thee, Welcome To Oceania

August 31, 2009

Want to be chipped, have your information in a big brother database for all to see whenever they desire? Well not all, just our government overseers, who want to turn you into a budget line item, so they will know when you are ‘out of money’ and then ‘out to pasture’.

There’s pretty starling things in House Bill – HR3200 Government takeover of healthcare,l that I bet 95% of Americans won’t like. Let’s take this one thing, for instance, and walk through the maze of the bureaucratic crap-weasels together:

The Obama Health care bill under Class II (Paragraph 1, Section B) specifically includes

‘‘(ii) a class II device that is implantable.”

Then on page 1004 it describes what the term “data” means in paragraph 1, section B:

14 ‘‘(B) In this paragraph, the term ‘data’ refers to in
15 formation respecting a device described in paragraph (1),
16 including claims data, patient survey data, standardized
17 analytic files that allow for the pooling and analysis of
18 data from disparate data environments, electronic health
19 records, and any other data deemed appropriate by the
20 Secretary”

What exactly is a class II implantable device? Lets look at the FDA and  see…

Approved by the FDA, a class II implantable device is a “implantable radiofrequency transponder system for patient identification and health information.” The purpose of a class II device is to collect data in medical patients such as “claims data, patient survey data, standardized analytic files that allow for the pooling and analysis of data from disparate data environments, electronic health records, and any other data deemed appropriate by the Secretary.” And looky here it’s recently approved and being put into use.

So you can now have your very own federal ID, with your very own budget line item, until of course your time is up, or you run out of funds to stay alive.

Need to approach everything with these congressional clunkers from what is prevented, not what is allowed. If not specifically prevented, then it is going to argued in court that it will be allowed.

In summary — H0w convenient is that? Branded, hung out to dry by the IRS, and scheduled to die when you cost too much to live on. Welcome to the new American Oceania.

Obama Has A Dream

August 30, 2009

Not quite the same as the one ML KIng had, nor the one that most Americans cherish, freedom and liberty, but doing things the way Hugo Chavez does in Venezuela.

If you watch the IV you will see the Tea Party protesters called everything the state run media can dream up. I wonder why that is, when the ACORN people, who really are thugs, beat people and rig election are not talked about. When the Tea Party protesters are not paid nor orgabnized by anyone but themselves, but the union thiugs pay their protesters in the best AstroTurf tradition $15 an hour to stand with their store pained signs and reccite their cue card chants. Reall starange the behaviour of the State Run Media.

Venezuela Opposition Decries Attempt to ‘Criminalize Social Protest’

Members of the Venezuelan opposition denounced Saturday the attempt to “criminalize social protest,” while rejecting the announcement by the Attorney General’s Office that it will put on trial all who “for whatever purpose march” to supposedly “destabilize the government.”

Attorney General Luisa Ortega said Friday that some people are “looking for any reason to march … to create chaos,” and that “such conduct corresponds perfectly to the crime of civil rebellion,” for which local law establishes penalties of 12 to 24 years in jail.

AG Ortega made the statement in referring to the “violent incidents that occurred in the opposition march last weekend to protest the Organic Education Law,” as expressed in a communique from the AG office released Friday.

The secretary general of the traditional social democratic party Democratic Action (AD), Henry Ramos, on Saturday described as “abominable” and “strange” the position of Venezuela’s attorney general.

For Ramos, Ortega’s manner is part of a “synchronized reaction by the government and representatives of the armed forces and the AG office” towards the supposed growing popular discontent.

In the government of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, “they’re scared, worried, because most people are peacefully exercising their constitutional right to protest without previous examinations or conditions,” the social democratic leader said.

So America may be showing Venezuelans how it’s done?

It’s an old trick — The key point is the government organized protesters, usually do the violence or stage the violence, and then try and blame the opposition protesters. The State Run Media knows how it works, it’s just that these days their is no difference between the State Run Media and the Obama administration.

Dream on Obama, Americans know how to organize a community, for real. And Americans know, the U.S. Constitution protects their right to assemble and do so.

The Sun Influences Earth’s Climate ?

August 30, 2009

You wonder who would ever dream up such a notion that the Sun may indeed Influence Earth’s climate. Didn’t Al Gore find that you could get rich combining a power point presentation with a scissors trolley? Who would have ever thought you could do that?

Now they are saying — Small fluctuations in solar activity, large influence on the climate. Further, Sun spot frequency has an unexpectedly strong influence on cloud formation and precipitation, rain like it is doing world wide these days in the total absence of Sun activity of any consequence.

Our sun does not radiate evenly. The best known example of radiation fluctuations is the famous 11-year cycle of sun spots. Nobody denies its influence on the natural climate variability, but climate models have, to-date, not been able to satisfactorily reconstruct its impact on climate activity.

Researchers from the USA and from Germany have now, for the first time, successfully simulated, in detail, the complex interaction between solar radiation, atmosphere, and the ocean. As the scientific journal Science reports in its latest issue, Gerald Meehl of the US-National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and his team have been able to calculate how the extremely small variations in radiation brings about a comparatively significant change in the System “Atmosphere-Ocean”.

Katja Matthes of the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences, and co-author of the study, states: „Taking into consideration the complete radiation spectrum of the sun, the radiation intensity within one sun spot cycle varies by just 0.1 per cent. Complex interplay mechanisms in the stratosphere and the troposphere, however, create measurable changes in the water temperature of the Pacific and in precipitation”.

Top Down – Bottom up

In order for such reinforcement to take place many small wheels have to interdigitate. The initial process runs from the top downwards: increased solar radiation leads to more ozone and higher temperatures in the stratosphere. “The ultraviolet radiation share varies much more strongly than the other shares in the spectrum, i.e. by five to eight per cent, and that forms more ozone” explains Katja Matthes. As a result, especially the tropical stratosphere becomes warmer, which in turn leads to changed atmospheric circulation. Thus, the interrelated typical precipitation patterns in the tropics are also displaced.

The second process takes place in the opposite way: the higher solar activity leads to more evaporation in the cloud free areas. With the trade winds the increased amounts of moisture are transported to the equator, where they lead to stronger precipitation, lower water temperatures in the East Pacific and reduced cloud formation, which in turn allows for increased evaporation. Katja Matthes: “It is this positive back coupling that strengthens the process”. With this it is possible to explain the respective measurements and observations on the Earth’s surface.

From EurekAlert.

When you add in the probable effect of the Sun’s quiescence and reduced maganetic filed strength caused by same, allowing increases in cosmic rays, which add to increased cloud formation, you wonder, do the cosmos actually control the Earth’s weather?

Lockerbie Bomber ‘Set Free For Oil ?’

August 30, 2009

If true — One of the more disgraceful acts England has ever done. There is still some slim hope it’s not true.

The British government decided it was “in the overwhelming interests of the United Kingdom” to make Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi, the Lockerbie bomber, eligible for return to Libya, leaked ministerial letters reveal.

Gordon Brown’s government made the decision after discussions between Libya and BP over a multi-million-pound oil exploration deal had hit difficulties. These were resolved soon afterwards.

The letters were sent two years ago by Jack Straw, the justice secretary, to Kenny MacAskill, his counterpart in Scotland, who has been widely criticised for taking the formal decision to permit Megrahi’s release.

The correspondence makes it plain that the key decision to include Megrahi in a deal with Libya to allow prisoners to return home was, in fact, taken in London for British national interests.

Edward Davey, the Liberal Democrat foreign affairs spokesman, said: “This is the strongest evidence yet that the British government has been involved for a long time in talks over al-Megrahi in which commercial considerations have been central to their thinking.”

To sell your soul for worldly gain is disgraceful. England, where is your honor? Your respect for those killed. HAs it all disappeared in the quest?

Especially when England has plenty of coal resources, coal is easily turned into liquid fuels by the FIscher-Tropsche process, and has the technical ability to build nuclear power plants at will.

UK Surgeons Botch One In Three Surgeries

August 29, 2009

Doesn’t the title just give you that warm and fuzzy for Obama’s Government run healthcare? Here is a screen snipping from the August 28, 2009 Daily Mail:

UKSurgeonsBotch

One way to look at it, you have a 66% chance of your surgery being successful.

NOTE — with the speed at which the Internet gets rewritten these days, I am looking at snipping the story and keeping the screen capture for posterity. Gonna see how I like it after a few tries.

Glen Beck’s In or Out 2010 Questions

August 29, 2009

Question with boldness:

  1. I believe in a balanced budget and therefore wil vote for a freeze in government spending until that goal is realized.
  2. I believe government should not increase the financial burden on its citizenry during difficult economic times; therefore I will oppose all tax increases until our economy has rebounded
  3. I believe more than four decades of U.S. dependence on foreign oil is a travesty therefore I will support an energy plan that calls for immediately increasing usage of all domestic resources including nuclear energy, natural gas, and coal as necessary. [Beck -- oil is assumed, are you nuts]
  4. I believe in the sovereignty and security of our country and therefore I will support measures to close our borders except for designated immigration points so we will know who is entering and whyand vehemently oppose any measure giving any country, the United Nations, or any other entity, power over U.S. citizens.
  5. I believe the United States of America is the greatest country on earth and therefore will not apologize for policies or actions which have served to free more and feed more people around the world than any other nation on the planet.

Glen Beck presented these questions at the end of his show on August 28, 2009. He suggested they be asked of every office seeker and answered. The answers determine whether you should vote for or against them in the 2010 election.

I have always marveled at the last 30 years of the Democrats saying ‘energy independence’ while at the same time, preventing by every means possible that exact thing. It is high time we demand that change and actually achieve energy independence, by using our own resources…
