Taking Community Organizing To The Next Level

Do you feel it’s time to get the clunkers out of Washington and restore our Constitutional Representative Republic? A Republic where the elected listen to and understand, they work for the people, not themselves or the party. Do you feel like your congressional clunker isn’t listening, doesn’t care what you think, then follow along while I tell you a story of 1994 election.

By now, most patriots have done the Tea Party gathering thing, the sign thing, the protest thing, so now it’s time to get serious and really do the organizing and informing thing. During the fall of 1993, after the AW ban of 1993, the election campaign got hot and heavy. Grass roots organizing was sprouting everywhere. Something most didn’t know, how we got our message to gun owners out. Remember in 1993 the Internet was but a pup, so many were not connected at all. Today the clutter and overload causes a similar problem, how to find your target voters.

This is key, while the issue of the day was the AW ban, the tactics were “use anything that worked against the congressional clunker in your sights”. If the AW ban was not particularly relevant in your district, then use whatever worked. There were plenty of issues to choose from that didn’t involve the gun ban.

RADIO

We used RADIO for the majority of our ads in 1993, good old radio. We set up a PAC in the district of the target, made the audio ads on a Mac computer, at that time one of the best choices for composing audio, and set out to raise money. The good news is radio in most of the small markets is not very expensive.  All you need is a tip jar at a rally or in our case, mostly at local gun shows. We collected 1000s of dollars this way, had very low production costs and defeated Tom Foley in the election. Tom Foley as you may recall, was the then speaker of the House of Representatives.

Our ads were made up on the kitchen table, after undergoing an online testing session. All this should be relatively easy for today’s Internet cruisers. One thing is important, the ads should be done by the locals in the districts. They know the issues that the locals will respond top, and they know the weaknesses of the target clunkers.

Since that time the Democrats have learned to place their leadership in maniacal districts, like nanny Peloser’s San Francisco loony town, so it’s really unlikely you could defeat such a loon — The normal folks leave the town at night. So concentrate on the rank and file, in particular ‘blue dog’ Democrats , who basically lie to their constituents to get elected, posing as conservatives, while we now learn they are nothing more than party lap-dogs when the votes come.

Don’t take any solstice in some 60 Democrat members of the House saying no gun control, you can’t have this much disruption with people who still have arms.

Tea Parties make a great place to collect funds for your PAC and get ideas for radio ads.

Go for it, expand your horizons, get on the air.
