Politico apparently got a leak from the DNC or the Obama campaign that may end up backfiring on the Democrats. Three weeks out from their convention, Mike Allen reports that Barack Obama and the Democrats will feature regular-folks speakers to talk about how great Obama’s policies have been, which isn’t exactly a new phenomenon. The twist? The regular folks will be progressive Republicans — Their fairytale world.
The Democrats apparently think that the jarring effect of Republican speakers will rule the day:
Advisers to President Barack Obama are scripting a Democratic National Convention featuring several Republicans in a prime-time appeal to independents — and planning a blistering portrayal of Mitt Romney as a heartless aristocrat who “would devastate the American middle class,” Democratic sources tell POLITICO.
According to convention planning documents, the three-night convention in Charlotte, N.C., early next month will seek to “[e]xpose Mitt Romney as someone who doesn’t understand middle class challenges” while also burnishing “the President’s image as someone whose life story is about fighting for middle class Americans and those working to get into the middle class.”
And then we have the Flukes, the cry babies gallery. Anything but the economy. Anything but our shrunken labor force. A fairytale world.
The most innovative — and harshest — element of the preliminary program is a nightly “social contrast” in which two people describe their personal experience with a hot-button issue — one person lauding the president’s actions, the other taking Romney to task. “Each paired-testimonial should have an ‘unexpected’ participant,” the documents say.
Anything but the current state of the Obama economy. Yes the Obama economy. The biggest and the first problem with all this …
That’s really the first and the next, and next, and next problem with this strategy — it avoids the issue that is far and away the most important to voters in this cycle: jobs and the economy. If all their convention focuses on and discusses is gay marriage, DADT, contraception, and abortion, it will be a huge success … with the people who were going to vote for Obama no matter who ran against him. Everyone else will understand that Democrats don’t have an answer for the economic crisis.
Anything to distract people and cloud the public stage. As Ross Perot Would say, gorilla dust. The Democrats favorite ploy.
Beat the Republicans are the biggest problem Democrats really have. They unite around that strategy, it’s what animates Democrats. Because that is the biggest problem Democrats have.
Real-ville …. Their lies require a fairytale world. So they will do their best to construct one of their own. If it looks like their old 1950s fairytale world, it does. All the Democrats can do is hope you don’t vote. Suppress the white working man’s vote. What else have they got?
Yes these are the same people that aren’t supposed to know about Obama adding to the ranks of freeriders. Which is why they were so mad at Romney for pointing that out. You didn’t think the lamestrream would tell you the truth. Silly you.
