World Temperatures Plunge As CO2 Soars: Every Single Day in 2011 is cooler than the same day in 2010

CO2 is rising much faster than expected to record levels, and temperatures have dropped 0.37C since last year - with every single day in 2011 cooler than the same day last year.

(AP)  WASHINGTON – The global output of heat-trapping carbon dioxide jumped by the biggest amount on record, the U.S. Department of Energy calculated, a sign of how feeble the world’s efforts are at slowing man-made global warming.

The new figures for 2010 mean that levels of greenhouse gases are higher than the worst case scenario outlined by climate experts just four years ago.

“The more we talk about the need to control emissions, the more they are growing,” said John Reilly, co-director of MIT’s Joint Program on the Science and Policy of Global Change.

Even for a near record-breaking year like 2010 the broader context is more important than a single year. “Certainly, it is interesting that 2010 was so warm despite the presence of a La Niña and a remarkably inactive sun, two factors that have a cooling influence on the planet, but far more important than any particular year’s ranking are the decadal trends,” Hansen said.

I thought the Canadians had gotten over this type of insanity. Environment Canada apparently wants to cut the coal industry in half. (At least that’s as much as they’ll admit too. Presumably they’d feel like they’d completed their life’s work if they could only wipe it out completely.)

Christopher Monckton has analyzed the Canadian regulatory action on “Coal Emissions” and finds that, as usual, legislators are choosing the most expensive option possible with other people’s money. Environment Canada wants to spend $6 billion to reduce the atmospheric concentration of a trace molecule by 0.01 ppmv, and assuming there is any advantage in doing so, it would still cost one-eighteenth as much to just do nothing, suck it and see, and pay for all the theoretical damage that could ensue.

Like so many other Western Nations, there is not even the pretense that the legislation makes sense judged by any numerical outcome, yet Canadian citizens may have to pay thousands in tithe to witchdoctors and carpetbaggers in a futile attempt to change the weather. It’s as if the highest echelons of Western leadership are stone-age innumerate.

BBC Reports: UK First Carbon Capture Project Goes Tits Up(as they say)

A £1bn project to turn a Scottish power station into a world leader in climate-change technology has collapsed.

Plans for the UK’s first carbon capture project at the Longannet power station in Fife have been scrapped, the energy secretary has confirmed.

Chris Huhne announced the failure to reach a “deal” with power companies to capture carbon dioxide emissions at the plant and pipe them under the sea.

Mr Huhne blamed problems with the length of pipeline needed.

But he said the government hoped other schemes could work, indicating interest at Peterhead in Aberdeenshire.

Mr Huhne told BBC Scotland interest had been expressed by Scottish and Southern Energy, which operates Peterhead, and he was confident a carbon capture and storage scheme could be brought online for the £1bn which the UK government had been offering to develop the CCS technology.

He said there were “specific” technical problems with Longannet which meant the scheme could not be made to “stack up” and would have required much more money. “If there was a completely unlimited resource then we may have been able to surmount the technical problems at Longannet,” Mr Huhne said.

“When we have clear indications that we can do what we need to do with carbon capture and storage at a commercial scale within the £1bn budget that we have got, then it seems to me that is what sensible taxpayers and energy bill payers would want us to do.”

Responding to Mr Huhne’s announcement, Scotland’s First Minister Alex Salmond said it was “deeply disappointing”.

And the hoaxers weigh in — Environmental group WWF Scotland said scrapping the scheme meant four years had been wasted in the battle to tackle climate change.

Scottish Power’s coal-fired plant at Longannet had been the only remaining site in the UK government competition for the funding.

Shock Finding: The Sun Has Dominant Control Over Earth’s Climate

The science is now all-but-settled on global warming, convincing new evidence demonstrates, but Al Gore, the IPCC and other global warming doomsayers won’t be celebrating. The new findings point to cosmic rays and the sun — not human activities — as the dominant controller of climate on Earth.

The research, published with little fanfare this week in the prestigious journal Nature, comes from über-prestigious CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, one of the world’s largest centres for scientific research involving 60 countries and 8,000 scientists at more than 600 universities and national laboratories. CERN is the organization that invented the World Wide Web, that built the multi-billion dollar Large Hadron Collider, and that has now built a pristinely clean stainless steel chamber that precisely recreated the Earth’s atmosphere.

In this chamber, 63 CERN scientists from 17 European and American institutes have done what global warming doomsayers said could never be done — demonstrate that cosmic rays promote the formation of molecules that in Earth’s atmosphere can grow and seed clouds, the cloudier and thus cooler it will be. Because the sun’s magnetic field controls how many cosmic rays reach Earth’s atmosphere (the stronger the sun’s magnetic field, the more it shields Earth from incoming cosmic rays from space), the sun determines the temperature on Earth.

The results of the CLOUD experiment may never get a lot of lamestream media attention, mostly due to efforts to avoid politicizing the findings and angering those who stand to greatly profit from selling AGW as scientific fact — which if you think about it, is politicizing the findings, except in the opposite direction.

We’ll now wait for Al Gore to accuse CERN, and possibly the sun, of being racist….

Presidential candidate Mitt Romney, in danger of losing his 2012 Republican primary front-runner status, on Wednesday he would not place restrictions on carbon emissions if elected.

Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, also said he does not know if human activity is the primary cause of climate change and does not favor spending heavily on climate solutions.

Asked about global warming at a town hall meeting in Lebanon, New Hampshire, Romney said he believed the world is getting hotter and humans contribute in some way to the change — but could not judge to what extent.

“Do I think the world’s getting hotter? Yeah, I don’t know that but I think that it is,” he said. “I don’t know if it’s mostly caused by humans.”

“What I’m not willing to do is spend trillions of dollars on something I don’t know the answer to.”

Well he does say, NOW, he won’t blow trillions on the hoax, that’s good. But taking to the hoax, that may have been “The End” … Know what you say, and stay the hell off Newt and Nancy’s couch.

There is just something really dumb about stupidity.

Long-anticipated results of the CLOUD experiment at CERN in Geneva appear in tomorrow’s issue of the journal Nature (25 August). The Director General of CERN stirred controversy last month, by saying that the CLOUD team’s report should be politically correct about climate change (see my 17 July post below). The implication was that they should on no account endorse the Danish heresy – Henrik Svensmark’s hypothesis that most of the global warming of the 20th Century can be explained by the reduction in cosmic rays due to livelier solar activity, resulting in less low cloud cover and warmer surface temperatures.

Willy-nilly the results speak for themselves, and it’s no wonder the Director General was fretful.

Jasper Kirkby of CERN and his 62 co-authors, from 17 institutes in Europe and the USA, announce big effects of pions from an accelerator, which simulate the cosmic rays and ionize the air in the experimental chamber. The pions strongly promote the formation of clusters of sulphuric acid and water molecules – aerosols of the kind that may grow into cloud condensation nuclei on which cloud droplets form. What’s more, there’s a very important clarification of the chemistry involved.

Bad news for the warmists … They won’t like this one bit.

Sunspots do regulate the earth’s climate, at least to real scientists. Lack of spots, means the climate is cooling, like today. It’s just not what you thought was doing. But you would expect people like the flake Al Gore, or the liars like OblameO to tell you.

Or to put it another way: The good people of CERN failed to discover the ‘God’ particle. However, for climate science they did discover the ‘OMG Particle’. That’s the particle that says everything you ever heard about CO2 and climate was wrong, and it IS the Sun, stupid. In Support Of Gov. Perry About The Global Warming Hoax

Most are misquoting him, so here is his exact words. In New Hampshire, Rick Perry said:

“I do think global warming has been politicised … We are seeing almost weekly or even daily scientists are coming forward and questioning the original idea that man-made global warming is what is causing our climate to change. Yes indeed they have. And many have been falsifying data, see the latest about Charles Monnett and the polar bear hoax.

Nearly every single point in Al Gore infamous fiction hoax film has been scientifically investigated and falsified. The others were too stupid too even bother. Even courts have ruled it fiction in the UK.

Take the one of the warm CO2 blanket surrounding the planet, and it’s mystery, like where it is. In does not exist. Now that point alone would in a sane world label the film as a hoax, a movie of fiction and the famous scissors jack.

Rep. Issa: 54.5 MPG & EPA Vehicle Greenhouse Gas Standards Negotiated Outside Scope of Law

The “kill the SUV” EPA CAFE rule is illegal, according to Issa.

In a sharply worded letter (August 11, 2011) to White House Counsel Kathryn Ruemmler, House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrel Issa (R-Calif.) contends that “the new Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) and EPA vehicle greenhouse gas (GHG) standards announced by President Obama and select automobile manufacturers on July 29, 2011, were negotiated in secret, outside the scope of law, and could generate significant negative impacts for consumers.”

Issa is also concerned “that the government’s ownership interest in General Motors and Chrysler at the time these negotiations were conducted creates a troublesome conflict-of-interest.”

Accordingly, Issa is launching ”an investigation into the activities of the Administration leading up to the agreement for new CAFE standards for model years (MY) 2017-2025.”

A handy piece of bureaucratic lawmaking if there ever was one.

Rough Service: Light Bulb Ban Loophole

I must note something about the futility of the Edison light bulb ban. There is already available an excluded-from-the-ban version of incandescents from Amazon.com and online bulb sites that only cost about double of already cheap normal bulbs, namely “rough service” bulbs that have beefier filaments and are thus *less* efficient than standard bulbs.

This loophole will be outed soon after the ban takes effect, assuming it does, and just like other types of prohibition will lead to a rebellion against the law, making them cool and popular and resulting in more energy use in rebellion against green nanny statism.
