POLL: Only 33% want Congress to take up gun control again.
Recently, a school in the once great state of Maryland offered counseling to students “troubled” by a classmate eating pastry into the shape of a gun. You might think his offense was kind of silly, but the school considered the seven year old students triggering action a “Level 3” violation of the following code:
“Any gun of any kind, loaded or unloaded, operable or inoperable, including any object other than a firearm which is a look-a-like of a gun. This shall include, but is not limited to, pellet gun, paintball gun, stun gun, taser, BB gun, flare gun, nail gun, and air soft gun.”
His two day suspension was followed up with a letter to every parent in the school:
Dear Parents and Guardians:
I am writing to let you know about an incident that occurred this morning in one of our classrooms and encourage you to discuss this matter with your child in a manner you deem most appropriate.
During breakfast this morning, one of our students used food to make inappropriate gestures that disrupted the class. While no physical threats were made and no one [was] harmed, the student had to be removed from the classroom.

As you are aware, the Code of Student Conduct and appropriate consequences related to violations of the code are clearly spelled out in the Student Handbook, which was sent home during the first week of school and can be found on our website, http://www.aacps.org.
If your children express that they are troubled by today’s incident, please talk with them and help them share their feelings. Our school counselor is available to meet with any students who have the need to do so next week. In general, please remind them of the importance of making good choices.
Yes, let us discuss the mental devastation of dastardly pastry weaponry with our children, shall we? Thankfully, the strawberry pop tart in question was destroyed before it could cause any further harm to the most vulnerable among us.
The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence has, within a week of the revelation that Defense Distributed has managed to design and “print” a fully functional firearm, constructed (almost) completely of plastic, suddenly put on a brave face, saying that predictions of the death of “gun control,” brought on by printed guns, are “hype.” On their Facebook page, on the morning of Thursday, May 9:

Even the local cops don’t like the liberal feel good do nothing gun control crap …. The criminals go to gun free New York now, and leave us alone.
Obama’s gun control bill may have gone down to stinging defeat in the Senate, but gun owners in New York weren’t so lucky. And you would think that New Yorkers, being virtually controlled by liberal Democrats, would welcome restrictions on their Second Amendment rights that were even too much for several Democratic U.S. Senators who opposed Obama’s bill.
But at least one faction of the Empire State’s citizenry – law enforcement – have been highly critical and outspoken about Governor Andrew Cuomo’s latest anti-gun effort.
The New York Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act, known as the NY SAFE Act, passed by the New York legislature and signed into law by Mr. Cuomo in January, does all the things that Obama wanted to do, and more. It bans “high capacity” magazines, requires that ten round magazines may only be loaded with seven rounds outside of firing ranges and competitions, bans ownership of guns defined as “assault weapons,” and requires registration of arms and ammunition sales to the state government.
If that weren’t enough, the NY SAFE Act regulates gun storage and effectively makes criminals out of law-abiding gun owners who fail to report stolen weapons within 24 hours. It also forces people who have done nothing wrong to renew their pistol permits and assault weapons registrations every five years.
Cuomo boasts that it is the toughest gun law in the nation, but tries to downplay its effect on the rights of citizens by claiming that “for hunters, sportsmen, and law abiding gun owners, this new law preserves and protects your right to buy, sell, keep or use your guns.”
Read Today’s headlines about Benghazi and see for yourself. Are you going to fall into the low information trap?
If it doesn’t fit the Democrat narrative it’s unfit to print. Got to hide the truth. The Democrat narrative is all that matters.
And even this articlemisses the “stares you in the face conclusion” … MORE GUNS LESS CRIME.
CCW has reduced gun violence of all types, overall by 70%, murder down 40%, according to the DOJ. Gun sales records are literally off the charts.
Yet the lamestream media would have you believe that gun crime is up. With the massive gun sales ever, gun crime is dropping as obviously criminals are cycling to safer occupations. It’s how the media report the Democrat agenda.
Why can’ t the media see that? They don’t want to see the truth. Simple as that … sorry. So why do you care that the news media lies to you? It’s your Bill of Rights the liberals seek to destroy, don’t you get that?
And yes if you have been reading … it’s not just the 2 nd Amendment, they want it all.
The media is the problem. The Constitutionally protected media.
csmonitor.com reports:
A Pew study released Tuesday finds that Americans think gun violence has escalated when in reality it’s way down from two decades ago. The violence has dropped, meanwhile, even as gun ownership has increased.
Mass shootings, frantic gun-buying, and more Americans legally carrying guns on the street all point to a country fighting a gun violence epidemic, right?
Not necessarily.
As part of a broader trend of declining crime, gun violence in America – while still high relative to other…

“The gun prohibition lobby has long promoted this idea that reducing the number of guns is a good idea, that fewer guns are better categorically,” says Dave Kopel, a research analyst at the Independence Institute in Denver. “But here we have a real world experiment which shows the opposite, where we have a huge decline in gun crime at the same time as there’s been an enormous increase in the firearms supply in the United States. It doesn’t prove that the increase in gun numbers or licensed carry caused the decline, but it sure does contest the simplistic theory … that more guns equal more crime.”…

And New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns is spending money on ads to put pressure on key Republican and Democratic senators in Arkansas, Alaska, North Dakota, and New Hampshire to change their votes.
But while the Pew findings are dramatic, other polls suggest that Americans’ perceptions about the level of gun violence aren’t necessarily turning into political concern about the trend.
According to a new Gallup poll asking Americans about top legislative priorities, gun control and immigration reform ranked at the bottom of 12 key ideas, with “creating more jobs,” “helping the economy grow,” and “making government work more efficiently” pegged as the top three priorities for the country.

Of what use is the media if all they do is hide the truth … Get the Blaze. Where truth is the only things reported. Truth has no agenda.
CCW Laws convince criminals to take up other safe jobs, when sheep shoot back.
Opponents of gun control are fond of pointing to federal crime statistics which show violent crime, including crimes committed by guns, declining in the United States over the last couple of decades despite states liberalizing gun control policies and Americans buying more guns.
But a new Justice Department’s Bureau of Justice Statistics has a report out which not only shows that crimes committed with guns has declined sharply over the last two decades, but also that the gun control schemes recently defeated in the Senate would have done little to address gun crime.
The report is devastating for the advocates of gun control.
First, the decline in crime:
Overall, the Justice Department report said, firearm-related homicides dropped from 18,253 homicides in 1993 to 11,101 in 2011, while nonfatal firearm crimes declined from 1.5 million in 1993 to 467,300 in 2011. The drop extended to schools: Homicides at schools declined from an average of 29 per year in the 1990s to an average of 20 per year in the 2000s.
That’s on-par with what we’ve seen from statistics gathered from the states by the federal government. But more intriguing still is just how little the gun control policies pushed for by the Obama administration and Democrats would have done to address gun crime:
Less than 1 percent of state prison inmates who possessed a gun when they committed their offense obtained the firearm at a gun show, the report said. Gun shows were central to the measure recently rejected in the Senate: It would have extended the current background-check requirement for firearms purchases from covering only sales at licensed dealerships to any sale that takes place at a gun show or was advertised in print or online.
About 40 percent of state prison inmates obtained their firearms from illegal sources such as theft or through a drug deal, the report said, while 37 percent got their guns from a family member or friend. Those findings are based on data from 2004.
The pro-gun control narrative goes something like this: We have more crime, and more violence, because we have more guns in our society. And yet, as state laws regulating concealed carry have been eased and as Americans have gone on a gun-buying binge what we’re seeing isdecline in gun crimes.
The facts don’t match the narrative.
How does this happen … The media lies that are told to the public to support the liberal agenda.
Gun crime has plunged, but Americans think it’s up, says study.
“Gun crime has plunged in the United States since its peak in the middle of the 1990s, including gun killings, assaults, robberies and other crimes, two new studies of government data show. Yet few Americans are aware of the dramatic drop, and more than half believe gun crime has risen, according to a newly released survey by the Pew Research Center.”
In less than two decades, the gun murder rate has been nearly cut in half. Other gun crimes fell even more sharply, paralleling a broader drop in violent crimes committed with or without guns. Violent crime dropped steeply during the 1990s and has fallen less dramatically since the turn of the millennium.
The armed citizen is the answer.
