Arab Spring Bears More Fruits: Tunisia Now One Of The Top Exporters Of Jihadists In Wake Of Arab Spring…

February 22, 2013

Of course pre-Arab Spring Tunisia was staunchly secular, not so much these days. Yes this is from that AP newsservice, so I don’t know it’s accuracy.  Proceed with caution, as always with unvetted sources.

TUNIS, Tunisia (AP) — TUNISIANS HEAD ABROAD TO PERFORM JIHAD

The cradle of the Arab Spring is increasingly looking like the birthplace of jihadists.

Long before Tunisia ousted its dictator and inspired the North African pro-democracy movement, the small, relatively prosperous country had the more dubious distinction of exporting Islamic militants. Now, as the country wrestles with the creation of a new government after the killing of a liberal opposition leader, experts say the flow of fighters is getting worse.

The repressive measures of the old secular dictatorship fueled the anger that produced jihadi movements, but its ruthless security apparatus also kept them largely in check. The much more relaxed approach of the country’s new leaders is allowing extremist groups and their networks to flourish like never before, experts say.

Though no one knows for sure just how many Tunisian fighters have traveled abroad, evidence suggests it remains one of the top exporters of jihadists per capita. Tunisians have turned up on the battlefields of Iraq, Syria, Libya and now Mali. The 32-man militant strike team that seized a gas plant in Algeria and took dozens of foreign workers hostage was more than one-third Tunisian.

Because of its small, well-educated population, there were hopes Tunisia would transition relatively easily to democracy after the ouster of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in January 2011. But it is now a battleground pitting secularists and Islamists against one another and in the confusion of creating a new state networks radicalized by the previous regime are flourishing.

Muslim Terrorist Retaliate For France’s Mali Attacks

January 17, 2013

No Islamic terrorists? France finds a nest.

The French military assault on Islamist extremists in Mali escalated into a potentially much broader North African conflict on Wednesday when, in retribution, armed attackers in unmarked trucks seized an internationally managed natural gas field in neighboring Algeria and took at least 20 foreign hostages, including Americans.

And now we have a hostage crisis in the desert. Is anyone home at the White House?

Bengazi: Revolt of the Spooks (In Which BHO’s Foreign Policy Melts)

October 7, 2012

This is interesting… apparently our CIA did not like the Obama LIEs either…

Weeks before the presidential election, President Barack Obama’s administration faces mounting opposition from within the ranks of U.S. intelligence agencies over what careerofficers say is a “cover up” of intelligence information about terrorism in North Africa.

Intelligence held back from senior officials and the public includes numerous classified reports revealing clear Iranian support for jihadists throughout the tumultuous North Africa and Middle East region, as well as notably widespread al Qaeda penetration into Egypt and Libya in the months before the deadly Sept. 11 terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.

“The Iranian strategy is two-fold: upping the ante for the Obama administration’s economic sanctions against Iran and perceived cyber operations against Iran’s nuclear weapons program by conducting terror attacks on soft U.S. targets and cyber attacks against U.S. financial interests,” said one official, speaking confidentially.

The Iranian effort also seeks to take the international community’s spotlight off Iran’s support for its Syrian ally.

Two House Republicans, Reps. Darrell Issa (R., Calif.) and Jason Chaffetz (R., Utah), stated in a letter sent this week to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that officials “with direct knowledge of events in Libya” revealed that the Benghazi attack was part of a string of terror attacks and not a spontaneous uprising against an anti-Muslim video produced in the U.S. The lawmakers have scheduled congressional hearings for Oct. 10.

“The Obama Administration is afraid to admit al Qaeda is running rampant throughout the region because it would expose the truth instead of what President Obama so pompously spouted during the Democratic Convention” said the official.”

Oh My: Hillary Admits It Was al Qaeda

September 26, 2012

Well gosh darn, she couldn’t keep it going any longer…

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton indicated for the first time on Wednesday that there was an explicit link between the Qaeda franchise in North Africa and the attack at the American diplomatic mission in Libya that killed four Americans, including the ambassador, J. Christopher Stevens.

In the UK News no less, I guess she didn’t have a good enough raport with the U.S. Media…:

She also said American intelligence and law enforcement agencies were working not only with Libya but also with other nations in the region to investigate the attack in Benghazi on Sept. 11. That indicated that the attack’s planning and execution might not have been the local, spontaneous eruption of violence that the administration had initially described.

Mrs. Clinton made her remarks at a special United Nations meeting on the political and security crisis in the swath of North Africa known as the Maghreb and the Sahel, a crisis that is particularly affecting northern Mali, which has been overrun by Islamic extremists since a military coup divided that country earlier this year.

I notice our serial liar Obama, had no trouble telling lies to the UN and the world.

Charles Krauthammer on the Collapse of the Cairo Doctrine

September 21, 2012

Today Charles Krauthammer focuses on the failure of Barack Obama’s “Cairo Doctrine.”

This was the policy of servile obedience to radical Islamists that Obama served up as an alternative to the Bush years. Apparently being merely safe wasn’t enough for Obama.

It’s as axiomatic in statecraft as in physics: Nature abhors a vacuum. Islamists rush in to fill the space and declare their ascendancy. America’s friends are bereft, confused, paralyzed.

Islamists rise across North Africa from Mali to Egypt. Iran repeatedly defies U.S. demands on nuclear enrichment, then, as a measure of its contempt for what America thinks, openly admits that its Revolutionary Guards are deployed in Syria. Russia, after arming Assad, warns America to stay out, while the secretary of state delivers vapid lectures about Assad “meeting” his international “obligations.” The Gulf states beg America to act on Iran; Obama strains mightily to restrain . . . France’s 2nd intifada: Muslim Youth

August 14, 2012

Hey did you know, France which recently elected their new communist leader, has a Muslim problem? No you thought that was all done when The One was elected …

The French won’t call the Muslims, Muslim. It’s how the French Press hides it from the public.

Muslim youth were on a rampage last night, firing on cops, pulling people from their cars before torching them, burning buildings and schools.

The enemedia goes into high spin control on this, calling Muslims firing on policemen in France “clashes”  and handwringing about the “agonized debate over the state of the grim housing estates that ring many French cities and the integration of millions of poor whites, blacks and North African immigrants into mainstream society.” “Youths” is code for Muslim in France, “Asian” is code for Muslim in the UK, “immigrant” is code for Muslims in Denmark etc.

Is this the second French intifada with a repeat of the thousands of car burnings nightly? And is firing at cops the new punk jihad?

Share the wealth, or we will take the ashes?

Reuters reports:

Youths fired buckshot at police in clashes in the French city of Amiens overnight on Tuesday, torching cars and a nursery school in a resurgence of urban unrest that President Francois Hollande said he would do everything to confront.

Hollande dispatched his Interior Minister Manuel Valls to the northern city, where two nights of violence were apparently sparked by tension over spot police checks on residents.

Officials said 16 police officers were hurt in the disturbances, some struck by buckshot others hit by a hail of missiles thrown by around 100 youths who gathered in northern districts of Amiens.

One officer was in a serious condition, the city’s Socialist Mayor Gilles Demailly told Reuters.

It’s points out the problems you have when your population looks like the Balkans.

Latest Snowstorm Blanketing Europe

February 7, 2012

Bitter Cold grips Europe -- Feb 6, 2012

The latest in a series of major winter storms will dump heavy snow in areas from the Balkan Peninsula and Italy to North Africa early in the week.

Some of these same areas have already received deep, even immobilizing, accumulations of snow following last week’s series of storms, which disrupted transportation infrastructure over a wide area.

Snow has contributed to the weather-related death toll, since late January, of at least 300 people, most of them dying of cold exposure.

About 70,000 people in Serbia were still cut off in snow-bound villages, according to many recent reports. Some mountain areas in Algeria also remained isolated.
