2012 Sales Numbers

First it was the gun free school of Sandy Hook, placing armed guards at the school. Just like Rahm Emaanuel’s school has… Now comes the sales reports, for December 2012.

CNSNews writes:

Background checks for individuals purchasing firearms increased in every state in December – and in 48 of the 50 states and in Washington, D.C. for full-year 2012 – according to data compiled by the FBI.

Compared to the total number of background checks completed from January through December of 2011 all but two states saw net increases in gun sales in 2012.

Utah reported a decline of 77.4%, and Iowa a decline of 17.9%.

Nationally, background checks were up 19.1% for 2012.

Washington D.C. saw the largest year-to-year increase with sales jumping 49.7%.  Wisconsin followed with 45.4%, then New Jersey with 42.5%, New Hampshire with 40.9% and Rhode Island with 39.3%.

Each of the 50 States and Washington, D.C. saw an increase in background checks in the month of December 2012, with every state posting an increase of at least 12%.

The top five states that saw the largest December increases were as follows:

  1. Georgia, 66.3%
  2. Oregon, 63.1%
  3. New Hampshire, 60.7%
  4. Texas, 60.2%
  5. Montana, 58.3%

Nationally, background checks for the month of December were up 39% from last month. Each time an individual purchases a firearm, the gun dealer must call the FBI to complete an instant criminal background check.

Apparently people aren’t as stupid as politicians.
