Dr. Ben Carlson Politely Blasts Every Bad Obama Policy During National Prayer Breakfast

Speaking the truth, with clarity and conviction. Maybe there is still hope for America. He does give you that feeling.

“Somebody has to be courageous enough to stand up to the bullies.”If you have not yet watched this 26 minute keynote speech at yesterday’s National Prayer Breakfast by Dr. Ben Watson, an American neurosurgeon and the Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, do yourself a favor and go watch it now (video and transcription via C-SPAN):

What a remarkable man.

During this speech — one in which Barack, Michelle, and Crazy Uncle Joe are forced to sit and listen to a man ridicule their very core beliefs in big government — I imagined that Obama sat there stewing while simultaneously wondering, “How the hell is he doing this without a teleprompter?”

But sit there and take it is exactly what Obama had to do, while Dr. Carson made the moral case for smaller government, the flat tax, and a healthcare system that put healthcare in the hands of the people, rather than in the hands of government bureaucracy. He chided Obama for the deficit and our national debt. And all Obama could do was sit there and shoot arrows from his eyes at the good Dr.
Healthcare

Obama believes in a universal, single-payer healthcare system run by a corrupt and incompetent government. Dr. Carson — who might know a thing or two more about healthcare than Obama and the entirety of a Congress who didn’t even read the behemoth Affordable Health Care act — believes that it is the individual who should be responsible for their own healthcare decisions:

Here’s my solution: When a person is born, give him a birth certificate, an electronic medical record, and a health savings account to which money can be contributed — pretax — from the time you’re born ’til the time you die. When you die, you can pass it on to your family members, so that when you’re 85 years old and you got six diseases, you’re not trying to spend up everything. You’re happy to pass it on and there’s nobody talking about death panels.

Number one. And also, for the people who were indigent who don’t have any money we can make contributions to their HSA each month because we already have this huge pot of money. Instead of sending it to some bureaucracy, let’s put it in their HSA’s. Now they have some control over their own health care.

In just two short paragraphs, Dr. Carson came up with a healthcare program that would actually work and makes sense. But does nothing to grow the size of government nor people’s reliance on that government.
Taxation

Obama and his minions on the Left believe in a progressive tax scheme that punishes wealth and success and rewards failure (and, no matter how you look at it, poverty is a failure on every level). Dr. Carson openly chided this re-distributive ideology as immoral:

What about our taxation system?

So complex, there is no one who can possibly comply with every jot and tittle — if I wanted to get you or you [points to audience members] I could get you on a tax issue. That doesn’t make any sense.

What we need to do is come up with something simple. And when I pick up my Bible, do you know what I see? I see the fairest individual in the universe, God, and he has given us a system: it is called tithes.

Now we don’t necessarily have to do 10%, but its a principle. God didn’t say, “If your crops failed, don’t give me any tithes.” He didn’t say, “Have a bumper crop? Give me triple.”

So there must be something inherently fair about proportionality.

You make $10 billion? You put in $1 billion. You make $10 you put in $1. Of course, you got to get rid of the loopholes.

But, now some people say, “That’s not fair, because it doesn’t hurt the guy who made $10 billion as much as the guy who made $10.”

Where does it say you have to hurt the guy? He just put a billion dollars in the pot; we don’t need to hurt him.

This is exactly the opposite of what Obama and the socialist left believe. They do believe that we should “hurt” the evil one percent every bit as much as they don’t believe that everybody should have at least some skin in the game.

If I were Dr. Carson, I might want to start keeping an eye out for drones flying above me…

Go watch the entire thing.
