The mountains are getting their first big snowfall of the season.
With the snow level is expected to drop as low as 3,500 feet tomorrow, as many as 16 inches may fall in the mountains.
Falling snow was visible early Monday throughout the Cascades. As of 11 a.m., traction tires were required on Stevens Pass.
The road to Artist Point at Mount Baker was closing for the winter after six inches fell, accord to Washington State Department of Transportation. The earlier recorded closure of the treacherous stretch of road was Sept. 27, 2007.
