Nowhere is [the result of mainstream media bias] more obvious than in the relentless imploding viewership of once financial media titan, CNBC, which lately has become a sad, one-sided caricature of its once informative self, whose only agenda is to get the most marginal Joe Sixpack to dump his hard-earned cash into 100x P/E stocks, and where according to data from Nielsen Media Research, the total and demographic (25-54) viewership during the prime time segment (9:30am – 5:00 pm) just tumbled to 216K and 40K – the lowest recorded viewership since mid 2005 and sliding.

NBC, the bought and paid for Obama network … Now Comcast takes the reigns.

So why the relentless collapse in CNBC viewers, which in turns leads to plunging ad revenues (aside from our observations from last summer on just this topic) and which has forced the station to even resort to muppets as a cheap ratings-boosting gimmick? Perhaps it has something to do with outbursts like this, where 13 minutes into the clip, one Jim Cramer tells the camera point blank when discussing daily market gyrations, and with absolutely no remorse, that I want everyone to play that game at home by recognizing that fraud is part of the equation and the government cannot stop it.

That’s right: on one hand CNBC’s most overcaffeinated anchor admits that the market is nothing but uncontrollable fraud, and on the other he beckons viewers and listeners, usually with the assistance of assorted bovine sounds, to “buy, buy, buy.

Perhaps the greater fool is truly dead, or simply the embedded hypocrisy of the CNBC stock “infomercial” is so transparent that nobody really cares what the Comcast subsidiary’s paid entertainers have to say any more.

Outrageous… Comcast Drops ALL Gun Shop Ads From Its Nationwide Cable Network

In the latest attack on gun owners – Comcast drops all gun shop ads from its nationwide cable network–

Remember Comcast and the NBS — Nothing but crap network merged sometime back.

This is how it is in the new America.

A constitutional and very moral product is being targeted by the thugs in politics … While they force us to watch condom and impotence ads on a regular basis.

Me I watch nothing on network TV, nothing … It’s programming for morons.

A gun shop owner said firearm manufacturers, distributors and retailers are being targeted unfairly after Comcast announces it’s dropping all gun shop ads from its nationwide cable network.

The cable company recently acquired NBC Universal and this is a long standing policy there.

When a local ad agency recently placed an order for Williams Gun Sight in Davison Township, it was denied. Owner Tom Wright said he’ll take his business elsewhere.

“I thought it was ridiculous, we are a legitimate business, we have been here for 80 years,” he said.

Business has never been better at Williams Gun Sight Company in Davison Township. It was earlier this year when Wright decided to re-run a 30 second spot on cable television, only to find out he couldn’t. “There’s no reason why we can’t promote what we believe in and something that’s guaranteed under the Second Amendment,” he said.

Andrea Olson is a media buyer for Canadian American, the local ad agency who originally placed the order. Olson said the agency’s owner was outraged. “He thinks this is a direct infringement on our constitutional rights and links it to gun control, and he’s a member of the NRA and passionate about the issue,” she said.


US TV networks suffer sharp dip in ratings

FT reports:

US broadcast networks are suffering a precipitous drop in television ratings so far this season, posing a significant threat to the system on which $70bn in television ads are traded each year.

Media executives argue that television watching is at an all-time high, with people viewing shows via digital recorders, on-demand videos and online streaming to computers and mobile devices.

However, executives say that the Nielsen ratings system used in the television business does not accurately capture that shift in viewership, and that they will push the industry to develop new standards so that they get paid for the additional viewing.

So far this season, average primetime ratings for live and same-day viewing among 18-49-year-olds has fallen by more than 10 per cent for ABC, CBS and Fox, according to UBS investment research. Fox has suffered the largest decline, with ratings in that audience group falling by nearly a third so far this season.

Only Comcast’s  NBC has registered a season-to-date increase in average primetime ratings among 18-49 year olds, up 22 per cent.

Stupid shows don’t need no ratings. Odd that one goes up and the rest goes down, doesn’t sound like a case for new metrics.

Swamp Dissolves: Microsoft, NBC Dissolve MSNBC.com Joint Venture

One of many successes of Obama, the media pit turns rotten. Eventually bo one wants to associate with the news with a tingle. They want the truth.

Microsoft is pulling out of the joint venture that owned MSNBC.com, freeing the world’s largest software maker to build its own online news service.

The breakup announced late Sunday dissolves the final shreds of a 16-year marriage between Microsoft Corp. and NBC News, which is now owned by Comcast Corp. The relationship began to unwind in 2005 when Microsoft sold its stake in MSNBC’s cable TV channel to NBC.

Cable Companies Expand Free Wi-Fi

Five of the nation’s largest cable companies are partnering to allow their subscribers free access to each others’ Wi-Fi hot spots in cities across the U.S.

The nation’s biggest cable operators are banding together to offer free Wi-Fi access to their broadband customers in more than 50,000 hotspots around the country.

On Monday, Bright House Networks, Cablevision, Comcast, Cox Communications, and Time Warner Cable announced on the first day of the Cable Show here that they’d enable each other’s broadband customers to access their metro Wi-Fi hot spots. The companies are calling the new network “CableWiFi,” so that subscribers will be able to find the hot spots when they’re roaming outside their own cable territory.

In early 2010, Cablevision, Comcast, and Time Warner Cable began allowing their subscribers to roam onto each other’s Wi-Fi networks in New York City, Long Island, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Connecticut. And Bright House Networks and Cablevision have already launched CableWiFi alongside their branded WiFi networks around New York City and in central Florida earlier this month.
