A new laser technology could make a light as bright as a 100-watt bulb consume less electricity than a 60-watt bulb while remaining far cheaper and radiating a more pleasant light than a fluorescent bulb can. Exploring the nano-world.

An ultra-powerful laser can turn regular incandescent light bulbs into power-sippers, say optics researchers at the University of Rochester. The process could make a light as bright as a 100-watt bulb consume less electricity than a 60-watt bulb while remaining far cheaper and radiating a more pleasant light than a fluorescent bulb can.

The laser process creates a unique array of nano- and micro-scale structures on the surface of a regular tungsten filament—the tiny wire inside a light bulb—and theses structures make the tungsten become far more effective at radiating light.

The findings will be published in an upcoming issue of the journal Physical Review Letters.

Obama’s Uncle: He’s Using Buchenwald for Political Purpose

Barack Obama’s great uncle offered some blunt language as to why his nephew is visiting the memorial at the former Buchenwald concentration camp next week during his trip to Europe and the Middle East.

“This is a trip that he chose, not because of me I’m sure, but for political reasons,” Charles Payne told the German magazine Spiegel. “Perhaps his visit also has something to do with improving his standing with (German Chancellor) Angela Merkel. She gave him a hard time during his campaign and also afterwards.”

Waterboarding Is Not Torture

Waterboarding — Lots of people have done it, our Navy Seals do it as matter of course in the SERE training, so now shock jock Mancow has done it.

Should we get the law and prosecute those standing there torturing Mancow? The trainers of our seals? The stupidity of these arguments that waterboarding is torture is just, well, laughable. Maybe sign a petition, or something or other, quick … War crimes have been committed.

Today, Barack Obama told the public, “In these last few months, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act has saved or created nearly 100 — 150,000 jobs”? Only a Democrat sees government jobs as real jobs. It’s a real laugher.

Unless and until the jobs loss stops, the economy will never turn around.
