Congress Approves New Iran Sanctions On Oil, Shipping sectorsS

August 2, 2012

How to act like you are doing something, when nothing is happening.

You will do what the Obama wants or no bomb for you.

Reuters writes:

The legislation, agreed to by senior lawmakers of both parties, “seeks to tighten the chokehold on the regime beyond anything that has been done before,” said Republican Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

The bill now heads to the White House for President Barack Obama’s signature. It builds on oil trade sanctions signed into law by Obama in December that have prompted Japan, South Korea, India and others to slash their purchases of Iranian oil.

The United States, European Union, and other Western nations are trying to stop Iran’s suspected pursuit of nuclear weapons. Iran says its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes.

Peaceful, until it gos boom. Then we talk. The ole NK strategy.

Romney picks up key South Florida Cuban-American endorsements

November 29, 2011

In announcing the support of the Diaz-Balart brothers and Representative Ileana Ros Lehtinen, Mitt Romney is making a big play for the Cuban-American vote, which helped cost him the election in 2008.

The Miami Herald reports:

Mitt Romney will pick up the ultimate Cuban-American endorsement trifecta Tuesday in South Florida: The support of U.S. Reps. Ileana Ros Lehtinen and Mario Diaz-Balart, and his brother, former Congressman Lincoln Diaz-Balart.

The endorsements of the Miami Cuban-American leaders is a leading indicator that Romney is making a big push in Florida for one of its most crucial voting blocs in the state’s Republican primary, scheduled for Jan. 31.

“It’s a major boost for any candidate when the three of them get together and move in one direction,” said Carlos Curbelo, a Miami-Dade School Board member who has worked for the Diaz-Balart brothers but has endorsed Romney rival Rick Perry.
